pic luvin'!

i just stumbled across the amazing blog the sartorialist (i know, where've i BEEN right?).
so i was just scrolling through it and saw this picture i love!
i think it's soo very stylish! shoes, rolled up sleeves, even the shorts and those glasses. iHeart!!
and even though its an 'on the streets' themed shot, it could easily be an editorial shot.
The Sartorialist apparently has a book out and stuff. it should be an amazing compilation of photos.

tie, dye and fly!

iHeart this cute little tie & dye skirt by Walter:

it's such a fun playful piece, but it can easily be glammed up with hot heels and a little bling, like so:

s.a. confidential: trendspotting continued!

the trendspotting continues!
designers at the recently concluded South African Arise Fashion week showed they had a whole lot up their sleeves! pouffy shoulders and ruffles were displayed on sleeves with a dramatic effect.
view:
the V-neck, short sleeved ruffley effect all over this top is as sexy as it is classy. paired with a high-waisted skirt it'll look absolutely gorgeous.
tiffany amber brought the gypsy-hobo look back with this piece.
this outfit is a cross between naughty schoolgirl and eighties fabulousity. like!
odio mimonet was clearly loving the dramatic sleeved effect, as she had more than one piece displaying the trend.
this is by far my mostest favouritest piece!!! love the hippie/american indian headband on display. the huge bow, the lace, the shorts... it all works perfectly together and the model is rocking it like she's absolutely loving the look. iHeart!!

the sexy suit here i love. plus, the print detail on the shoulders and on the pleated ruffles on the jacket hem add just the extra touch of fab this outfit needed.

simple and sexy: the high neck on the bishop sleeve in white presented with the silver heels... it is safe to say me likey.

this ade bakare outfit is very reminiscent of the 70s style 'sisi eko' look here in Nigeria. retro, anyone?

in loving memory:

mourning The Greatest has taken a hold on the fashion industry - and i'm not referring to the mass production of single-handed silver gloves. shoe/accessory designer alejandro ingelmo i found, has a few pairs of hot shoes named after some of Michael Jackson's biggest hits! view:

S.A. confidential: trendspotting!

sheer, tiered and bare legged were just a few of the trends on display at the South African Arise Africa fashion week. i'm going to dedicate a few posts to my observations, starting with an ode to the sheer.

South African designer Heni, Ugandan designer Gloria Wavamunno, Ghanian Ben Nonterrah and Nigerian born Samantha Cole allowed us, well, see through their creations:

this little summery dress is erm, just a tad risque. i like the flowy style of the dress, but it's not exactly practical. maybe to the beach over a bikini..

we've seen this dress before, but i still like it! the lace adds that feminine effect, and the plunging neckline takes away any likeness the dress might have to a curtain - always a good thing! it's presented with black shoes however, which i do not endorse.

this is one of those pieces i can't really make too much of. i mean, it's turtleneck! no comment! well, except to say i like the fact that its paired with short shorts. that makes it somewhat pardonable.

now this i quite like. it's one of the first few pieces i saw of all the collections showcased at the fashion week that gave the impression that the designer actually tried to go for a high fashion look, as opposed to just presenting pretty dresses. the bow, the dramatic ruffley jacket, the flared sleeve and the pouffy skirt come together just right imo.

S.A. confidential:

a token post for my long absence, this outfit from Mustafa Hassan-Alli's recent collection shown at the Arise Africa Fashion Week recently held in South Africa:

i really like the free-flowing feel of the dress. it might be the model, but i get an asian inspired feel from it. pretty, eh?
