The Clock starts Now πŸ•°

Not in 2022, not when the next batch of candidates start campaigning.
We don’t get to sit back and return to the status quo, Masters of the Art of Complaining, until the next elections come around.

There will be new challenges in this time:
New businesses. New marriages. New children = new bills. New education crises. A desperate need for media intervention. Moral values. What world will we raise our children in?

It’s in our hands.
Buhari will be 80 in 2023.
He will rest.
Atiku may run again.
More generals may decide to spring up, since we like voting them in so much.
We can’t blame them - we can only stand up.
Take responsibility.
Do our actual God-given BEST.

Tech people? Invent the next electoral app system and start testing it out on smaller-scale projects.
Teachers? TEACH, PLEASE! Don’t despise teaching; it’s so essential. There’s no learning without teaching. No progress, no development.
Doctors? Don’t run away. Help us find cures to the simplest illnesses that are killing us.
Lawyers - I don’t know what you guys do just don’t spend the next 4 years arguing πŸ˜’πŸ˜…
Architects/ civil engineers - Build. You have the solution to the housing crises. Stop imagining the perfect future that’ll make it easy for you to do it - fight through these challenges and start solving the problems.
Electrical engineers(?)- fix electricity. You keep talking about alternatives, create these prototypes let’s test them out, already.
Filmmakers: create! On a HUNDRED! No more mediocrity. Practice, perfect, pioneer!
Motivation speakers- motivate! Our morale is down. We need y’all, too πŸ™πŸ½

The environment isn’t encouraging, so let’s CHANGE THE ENVIRONMENT.
You can leave, but that’s like reaping the fruits of someone else’s sacrifice and not being willing to sacrifice to create your own.

Complaining has got us absolutely nowhere. It’s time to strategise and act.
These four years?
Let’s make them count. (And count, and count, and count...)

Thoughts on Specialisation

Purpose is General, assignment is Specific.
God calls us all to the General Purpose of Worshipping Him, living a life of love, loving our neighbours, forgiving those who tresspass against us, etc, but God believes in Specialisation.
There's a time for generalisation, but we are ultimately called to dominate a very specific area…

It's like school. In Primary school, everyone is learning the same thing: the same nursery rhymes, the same ABC's. In secondary school, some people choose Literature instead of Geography. By university, you narrow it down even further, and can even end up studying just ONE subject for four whole years.

Specialisation is a mark of maturity.
Being able to discern the difference between many good things and the ONE good thing for you, is a mark of maturity - where maturity means growth, increased understanding and enough experience with the general things to the point where you start to notice distinctions in places you had never noticed them before.

Specialisation leads to Excellence.
Excellence has a price. Choosing to be an excellent, renowned photographer will often mean you cannot choose to also be a film director. Choosing to be a wildlife photographer will mean that you cannot choose to be a sports photographer. (etc.)
The fact that you can do both well, does not make both your "specialty".
You can do many things well, but you can only be excellent at a few things (maybe even only one thing?πŸ€”)

Specialisation requires Courage.
Courage is what enables you to choose to specialise in ONE area, knowing that it will cost you the opportunity to make money in other areas. It will also cost relationships.

The General is the thief of the Specific.
The desire to do a lot robs us of the opportunity to be EXCELLENT in one.
Nothing wrong with "general" - it's the place of experience, of experimenting, of learning, of watching, of copying, of practising, of growing. It is a great place to be.
But we must know when it is time to move one step closer, to cut other choices loose.
To focus.
To mature.
To specialise.

Specialisation doesn’t end.

"Therefore let us leave the elementary doctrine of Christ and go on to maturity…"

"Press ya hand"

I wore this gorge @maisondemorad dress on today’s episode of the Heart of the Matter @hotmtv. Did you catch it? What did you think of Banky’s passionate approach? (Please let me know!)

The way I see it is this: in these elections, we already know all the negative things. “They” rig, ehn we’ve heard that. “They” already know who is coming in. Okay thanks.
BUT:
How will YOU vote?
What will YOUR position be?
Rather than fold your arms or continue these heart wrenchingly cynical and pessimistic conversations, what will you DO? All talk, allllll talk. But what will your ACTIONS be?

My suggestion: Vote the person you BELIEVE should be elected. Let the results of these elections show the dissatisfaction of the people and the heart of the people. Let the numbers show that so-and-so million people were tired of the present government. Let the numbers show that, these elite that we keep pointing fingers at (aka, ourselves🀦🏽‍♀️) actually TRIED.
Stand behind the person you would like to see in office and reduce the margin of rigging as much as humanly possible.

Because all the talk - whether you say nothing is possible, or you say it’s possible - in the end o, your action (YOUR VOTE) should reflect the change you want to see.
(Note that not voting = you’re happy with how things are.)

Imagine a Nigeria where the people actually voted what they wanted.

I’m voting Fela Durotoye for President because I believe he has the right intentions for the country.
Voting Banky in for the same reason.
Because as inexperienced as you may think they are, it’s the “experienced” ones who have actually run this country to the ground.

Press your hand wisely.
And carefully.
